GoHappyLive.com, JAKARTA- Ajang kompetisi ilmiah ‘Discovery Camp’ yang diselenggarakan PP IPTEK berhasil dimenangkan SMP Brighton, Cibubur. Dengan kemenangan tersebut otomatis tiga siswi, yakni: Ertara Alya Vin, Azalia Cinta Zahirah Putri dan Aurelia Maharani Putri (Kelompok 7) siap melaju ke Junior Science Odyssey (JSO) yang akan berlangsung pada 9-15 Juni 2019 di National Science Museum (NSM), Thailand.
Sebanyak 25 kelompok yang terdiri dari 75 orang pelajar yang berasal dari 11 SMP/SMA di wilayah Jabodetabek yang berusia 13-15 tahun sejak tanggal 21-23 Maret 2019 bertarung sengit memperebutkan tiket ke ajang JSO di Thailand.
Wajah-wajah tegang tak dapat tertutupi saat tim juri mulai mengumumkan para pemenang. Puncaknya ketika peraih medali emas hanya jatuh pada satu kelompok, tiap kelompok saling bertatapan.
Begitu pun saat nomor kelompok tujuh disebutkan, ketiga siswa SMP Brighton, terdiri dari Ertara Alya Vin, Azalia Cinta Zahirah Putri dan Aurelia Maharani Putri, seketika terkejut , lalu berteriak histeris.
Salah satu dari mereka, Ertara Alya Vin tak dapat menahan menangis bahagia. Sejenak kedua temannya memeluk Ertara yang masih menangis.
“Tadinya mau pulang, karena berpikir paling Cuma dapat perunggu. Sempat pesimis sih, pasrah dan nggak menduga bisa meraih medali emas. Peserta semuanya pintar luar biasa,“ ungkap Ertara Alya Vin ditemani Azalia Cinta Zahirah Putri dan Aurelia Maharani Putri, usai penyerahan hadiah di PP-IPTEK, Sabtu, 23/3.
Ertara mengaku dia dan kedua temannya hanya punya waktu seminggu untuk mempersiapkan ikut kompetisi ini.
Lantas Azalia ikut menimpali motivasi mengikuti kompetisi ini bukan semata-mata untuk menyabet medali emas.
“Kami Cuma ingin mendapatkan pengalaman, itu saja,” katanya, diikuti anggukan Aurelia Maharani Putri yang berada disampingnya.
Ada pun pemenang peraih medali Silver diraih SMP Brighton (Kelompok 2) — Steven Karlisius Silaban, Nakeshia Angela Valentina Situmorang, Cindy Evani. Peraih medali Silver lainnya, SMP Islam Tugasku (Kelompok 2) — Fellyssya Faradila Hiko, Mushtafa Hafizh Ismarrahman, Nasya Nur Azizah.
Sementara itu, peraih medali Bronze yaitu MTS Istiqlal (Kelompok 1) — Asti Azalia, Indria Zahidah, Nuha Nazeeha, SMP Brighton (Kelompok 8) — Diffie Alfierie Iswanto, Regina Rachel Sheerya Butarbutar, Nayyara Azzahra Mahdani, dan SMPN 115 — Isabel Angelina Sianturi, Axel Manuel Bisuk Raja Mangatur Manurung, Sirhan Zafirah.
PP-IPTEK memang rutin menyelenggarakan kompetisi ilmiah untuk berbagai jenjang tingkat pendidikan. Tujuannya tak lain, agar generasi penerus bangsa bisa mencintai iptek karena ternyata bidang ini sangat menentukan tingkat dayasaing bangsa.
‘Discovery Camp’ sendiri adalah kegiatan kompetisi keterampilan ilmiah yang dikemas dalam bentuk perkemahan. Kegiatan ini mengangkat tema ‘The Role of Youth in Communicating Science for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia’ – tema besar kegiatan JSO 2019.
Direktur PP-IPTEK, M. Syachrial Annas mengatakan para peserta harus memiliki kemampuan berpikir kreatif dalam menciptakan ide-ide secara langsung, mampu berbahasa Inggris secara aktif, dan mempunyai kemampuan sosialisasi yang tinggi.
Kesemua ini menjadi modal pada kegiatan ‘Junior Science Odyssey (JSO)’ pada 9 – 15 Juni 2019 di National Science Museum (NSM), Thailand, tiap peserta juga akan dikelompokkan dengan peserta dari negara lain untuk berkompetisi. Peserta JSO berasal dari 13 negara anggota ASEAN Plus Three (Jepang, Korea, China), serta negara tamu seperti Swedia, Australia, dan Nigeria.
“PP-IPTEK akan selalu mempersiapkan lomba-lomba yang berjenjang sampai pada level internasional dengan matang. Hasil dari kegiatan Discovery Camp membuat kita lebih siap dalam memperoleh hasil yang baik dan bisa membanggakan bangsa di tingkat internasional. Semoga kita bisa berhasil menjadi pemenang di event-event internasional.” papar Annas.
